Inglot Lip Duo - Lip Paint and Lip Gloss in #20

Hooray! My first Inglot review.

The Inglot Lip Duo is easily the most interesting thing I picked up from my first and only trip to Inglot in Johor, Malaysia, in March. The only reason I bought it, is the way it is presented in, with lip gloss on one side, and lip paint on the other.

The sales assistant kindly warned me that this is not a favourite product among all her customers, but I picked it up anyway. So how does it measure up? Let's find out!

Inglot Lip Duo - Lip Paint and Lip Gloss in #20

Available: All Inglot outlets, RM 56. Slightly more than SGD 20 now.

Volume: 8 g. That would be 4 g per side, the standard mass for lipsticks.

Star Properties: Comes with a lip paint that is more highly pigmented, and a gloss side, that is more glossy and less coloured.

Ingredients lists: The list for both the paint side and gloss side are below, if you need.

Packaging
The Lip Duo comes in a black box, that is part of Inglot's branding. The lip pot itself is a beautiful clear colourless plastic cube that opens up to reveal equal volume of product on both sides.

Details like the name, colour number, and mass are printed on top and underneath the cube.

The top tier contains the gloss, while the bottom tier holds the lip paint.

The two tiers are connected with springs, and they click shut tightly, with complete alignment.

Engineering-wise, the packaging is definitely a well-thought, well-done piece of work.

Product Texture and Feel
I do like how the lip duo feels on my lips. Both the lip paint and lip gloss are very well-balanced, not too sticky, not too greasy, and both are extremely lightweight, to the point that I cannot feel a thing.

They are also very moisturising in that none of them dry my lips.

Long-lasting?
I find that the lip paint last pretty well, and lasts much longer than the gloss. The lip gloss is a little more like a touch-and-go kind of product, that I can actually do without.

Pigmentation
Reason why I can do without the lip gloss is because it is as it claims, basically a gloss. It does not have much colour, so you can still see my dark lips underneath it. I have a tonne of lip glosses in my stash, and this gloss in the Inglot Lip Duo is neither particularly glossy and lip-plumping, nor particularly iridescent and multi-dimensional. I do give it credit that it is not sticky or greasy, and so lightweight.

You see how the lip gloss itself look on my lips in the photo below. This is done on bare lips, without the lip paint.

Gloss only.

In contrast, the lip paint, as it claims to be, is a highly pigmented colour. I really love this, because it is the first pale pink that is pigmented enough to cover my dark lips, yet still insanely nourishing and non-drying. Many of my pale coloured lipsticks either don't fully cover my natural lip colour, or are simply too drying to be won. A picture of the lip paint only on bare lips is shown below.

Paint only.

From the above photo, you can see that the lip paint is already shiny enough (for my liking), and really, I don't need a gloss over. But perhaps, just for that extra iridescent pop, I usually do use the lip gloss. And the resultant look is shown below.

Gloss over paint.
Not much difference really, except maybe with the gloss over paint, my lips look a little more red, as oppose to pale pink.

Colour
The colour #20 is a rose mauve pink, a standard colour that I know will usually suit my skin tone. I like this colour.

Inglot does have a wide range of Lip Duos, and if you are liking this so far, you may want to check out their other colours at the counter itself.

How I Use It
You can probably use your fingers with this, but I don't use my fingers with this, due to hygiene reasons. I use a lip brush to scrap out some of both onto the back of my hand, then paint it on my lips.

I know that it is kind of strange how I can use a lipstick straight from the tube, yet I refuse to dip my fingers into this.

Price
For SGD 20 for something like this, I think it is not a must-have. It does come off as a bit of a fad, gimmick product, although I do think the quality is good. Much of the price, in my opinion, goes to the packaging. I love seeing this seated on my table, and one can imagine, if there are 10 of this lining up on the dresser, how great that would be!

Recommend?
Probably only for those who have a little extra beauty budget to spend on a little sweet treat.

Like it. 4.5/5.
I think the gloss can be a little more iridescent. I like the staying power of the lip paint and how pigmented it is. I like how lightweight both the gloss and paint are. I definitely love the clear cube packaging and the entire concept of having gloss and colour separated. It is a nice pretty, sturdy thing to display on your dresser, and also bring along in a purse.

I may repurchase in another colour if I go again, just because I do allocate a little budget to spending when I go overseas, since I likely wouldn't go back until at least a year later.
